We are the official communications partner for the Department for the Economy’s Geothermal Demonstrator project, now known as GeoEnergy NI. Working with lead consortium partner Tetra Tech the project is aiming to explore the geothermal potential in Northern Ireland and to demystify this renewable energy source. While well-established elsewhere in the world, geothermal energy is still relatively unknown in Northern Ireland and is seen a key part of our efforts to meet net zero targets as set out in the Northern Ireland Energy Strategy. It is also hoped that it can enhance our security of energy supply as a local, renewable and low carbon energy source.
We have developed a comprehensive and fully integrated communications programme designed to inform and educate the public and key stakeholders about geothermal energy and deliver positive engagement and awareness of the GeoEnergy NI demonstrator projects. The projects will see geothermal explorations in the Stormont Estate in Belfast and near CAFRE’s Greenmount campus in Antrim. Our work started with the creation of a project name and brand – GeoEnergy which is now applied across all materials against agreed brand guidelines. We have also conducted market research to benchmark awareness and understanding levels of geothermal energy here in Northern Ireland.
As well as managing all media and stakeholder engagement including delivering the project launch event, we have already delivered a comprehensive project website (https://www.geoenergyni.org) , introductory animation, video case studies, brochure and a range of other promotional materials. We have also established project social media channels and are managing the ongoing content calendars. We are also delivering a Mobile Visitor Centre to be used as part of the public outreach programme and will also be managing targeted advertising campaigns to promote the project and the Mobile Visitor Experience. Throughout the project we will also be completing a documentary film to capture the full story behind the project.
