The Ballylumford Power-to-X project is part of the Department of Business Energy & Industry Strategy (BEIS) Longer Duration Energy Storage (LODES) Demonstration innovation competition and was awarded approximately £1m in funding to take the project forward.
This pilot energy storage project is based in Ballylumford near Larne and is a front-end engineering design (FEED) study to demonstrate the concept of innovative, first-of-a-kind, longer duration energy storage technologies. Bringing together the Consortium of B9 Energy, Mutual Energy, Islandmagee Energy Ltd and the Net Zero Technology Centre it is designed to validate the concept of innovative, first of-a-kind longer duration energy storage technologies to provide grid flexibility to the electricity network and which can be deployed at scale.
